- The Great Northern Diver was
still present on October 12th. A Rock Pipit on 11th. Black-necked Grebe on
8th. A Goosander on 5th. 2 Bar-tailed
Godwits on 2nd. A Short-eared Owl,
2 3rd w Caspian Gulls
and 1 Yellow-legged Gull on 1st. 1 Mediterranean
Gull on September 29th. A pair of Common Scoters on 22nd.
A juv Little Gull from 16th
- 18th. 3 Black Terns and Hobby
on 9th, A Grey Phalarope, Osprey, Black Tern,
2 Greenshanks and strong tern
passage on 6th. A Knot on 4th. Tufted Duck numbers are now
at 790 and the presumed Tufted x Scaup hybrid has returned.
- 4 Caspian Gulls have been
reported from Stubbers Green recently (see photos in Diary - we
would appreciate opinions).

North Shore Fence
A fence has been erected around much of the North Shore prior to the
introduction of Dexter Cattle next year. The
Feeding Station is within the summer grazing area and will
not be affected during the winter months when it is being
used.

Barn Owl was lost from its aviary on the night of Friday/Saturday 19th/20th
September at Rugeley Road, Burntwood.

definitely not wanted at Chasewater! One of the biggest threats to
Chasewater and its wildlife is POLLUTION. If you notice ANYTHING different that looks like it may have been
caused by some foreign substance coming into the water or on the land around the
Site, then IMMEDIATELY PHONE THE ENVIRONMENT AGENCY'S 24 HOUR
FREEPHONE INCIDENT LINE which is:

THEY WILL TAKE IT SERIOUSLY and ask them to report what action they take
to you and let us all know.
