Cuckoo Bank:   Pair of stonechats, 25 common snipe, siskin, green woodpecker and sparrow hawk,  5 red deer and hare.  Fields:  20 grey partridge {covey's of 17 and 3} and a flock of c 100 linnets (JH)

Meeting of Group at Innovation Centre, Chasewater   The fog was bad so only a few turned up.  We did, however, arrange dates for future meetings for the next 12 months and discussed several other important issues.  The meetings will be on the 2nd Monday in the month from January onwards.  Put these dates in your diary.  Will confirm venue but hopefully the Innovation Centre at Chasewater.  We need help with Feeding Station and erecting nest boxes so any help would be appreciated.  Drop us a line at:  birds at chasewater dot org dot uk

Gull roost included 1st W Med. Gull, 2 Ad. Yellow-legged Gulls, 45 Greater b-backs (IW)

North shore:  chiffchaff, 2 redpoll and siskin at dusk, 39 pied wagtail flew in the direction of Cuckoo Bank obviously heading to  roost. (JH)
Cuckoo Bank 3 short eared owl, pair of stonechat, 2 jack snipe, 23 common snipe, redpoll, 3 siskin 7 fieldfare flew over and 3 golden plover flew off fields. (JH)

No sign of Arctic Skua tonight but Gull Roost back to expected numbers with marked influx of Common, Herring and GBB - 2 Ad Yellow-legged, 75 Common, 27 GBB, 10,000 Black-headed Gulls.

Gull Roost:  Adult Med. Gull, 5 Yellow-legged Gulls (4 ad. 1 2nd W)), only 37 Lesser BBacks, 3,000 Black-headed Gulls.  (Skua has meant many gulls moved off to Blithfield) (IW)

105 Lapwings, 1 Cormorant, 1 Grey Wagtail, 9 hybrid geese. Highfield Farm: 6 Stock Doves (GE).

Water level now 159 cm off maximum. 2 Cormorants (GE).

The 150th bird species of the year was a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, which was with a tit flock at the south end of the dam at 16:30 (IW).

1 Short-eared Owl, 1 male Peregrine, 2 adult Yellow-legged Gulls, 1 Marsh Tit, 60 Long-tailed Tits (a site record), 6 Bramblings, 2 Chiffchaffs, 1 Jack Snipe, 2 Stonechats, 10 Bullfinches, 5 Common Darters, 2 Small Tortoiseshells, 1 Red Admiral (PJ).

Area North of Sailing club Siskin and Redpoll in ones and twos, larger flock of 11 Redpoll and 6 Siskin. At the settling pond 2 Stonechats on the phragmites reed heads. A Chiffchaff in the nearby sallows (JH). 1 Cormorant (GE).

Cuckoo Bank:  Raven, Buzzard, 5 Stonechats, 19 Common Snipe, Green Woodpecker, 5 Song Thrushes, flock of 20 Goldfinches. On the fields a juvenile Peregrine was hunting and Sparrowhawk, , 4 Grey Partridge, 150 Starling, 2 Redpoll, Redwing, 1Fox and 6 Red Deer (JH)4 Grey Partridge, 150 Starling, 2 Redpoll, Redwing, 1Fox and 6 Red Deer (JH)..
