Home Key to Contributors
1st Two Little Egrets flew north at 15:00 and 16:00. The gull-roost held 2 adult Mediterranean Gulls and 2 adult Yellow-legged Gulls (CwS).
2nd The gull roost held 3 (2 adult, 2cy) Yellow-legged Gulls (CwS).
3rd Wet and windy conditions again but 4 (adult, 2 4cy, 2cy) Yellow-legged Gulls were noted in the roost and a juvenile Shag circled over Norton Bog during the early morning before flying off west (CwS).
4th An adult Mediterranean Gull and 4 (2 adult, 3cy, 2cy) Yellow-legged Gulls roosted (CwS).
5th A juvenile Great Northern Diver was present off the dam during the morning (REv) and remained until dusk when an adult Caspian Gull, 2 adult Mediterranean Gulls and 3 (2 adult, 4cy) Yellow-legged Gulls were seen in the roost (CwS).
S 6th The Great Northern Diver was still present but appeared to be very inactive and not diving. An adult Yellow-legged Gull was on the Swag (CV) and later, in the roost, there were 4 (2 adults, 4cy, 3cy) Yellow-legged Gulls and an adult Mediterranean Gull (CwS). A leucistic Grey Squirrel was an interesting find (JTa).
S 7th The Great Northern Diver was present along with 2 Shelducks. The gull-roost held 2 Caspian Gulls (3cy, 2cy), 3 (2 adult, 5cy) Yellow-legged Gulls and an adult Mediterranean Gull (CwS).
On Cuckoo Bank there was a flock of about 40 Fieldfares (GHa).
8th The gull-roost held a 3cy Iceland Gull, 2 (3cy, 2cy) Caspian Gulls, and 3 (2 adult, 5cy) Yellow-legged Gulls. There was no sign of the diver during a brief search before the mist descended (CwS).
9th No records.
10th A Kingfisher flew over the south end of the dam, 32 Lapwings were present and at least 15 Little Grebes and 37 Great Crested Grebes were counted on the main lake (GE). A Green Woodpecker was on the North Shore (KW).
11th The putative Ring-billed x Lesser Black-backed Gull has returned to the roost along with an adult Caspian Gull, 4 (2 adult, 5cy, 3cy) Yellow-legged Gulls and an adult Mediterranean Gull (CwS).
12th The white Lesser Black-backed Gull, adult Mediterranean Gull, 5 () Yellow-legged Gulls and a 4cy Caspian Gull roosted (CwS).
13th A 2cy Iceland Gull was present along with 5 (2 adult, 2 4cy, 3cy) Yellow-legged Gulls, including the odd, hooded atlantis-like4cy bird, an adult Mediterranean Gull (CwS, SR) and a striking bird reminiscent of armenicus (ATo).
14th An adult Caspian Gull arrived early in the roost which also held 5 (2 adult, 4cy, 3cy, 2cy) Yellow-legged Gulls (CwS).
15th The gull-roost held 4 (adult, 4cy, 2 3cy) Yellow-legged Gulls (CwS).
16th The roost held a 2cy Caspian Gull and 4 (adult, 2 4cy, 3cy) Yellow-legged Gulls and a Peregrine was hunting over the north shore (CwS).

Two adult Yellow-legged Gulls and an adult Mediterranean Gull roosted (CwS).

A Peregrine was at Cuckoo Bank (GHa).
18th A 2cy Caspian Gull and a 3cy Yellow-legged Gull was poor reward for those braving the wet conditions (CwS).
19th The monthly WeBS count produced 80 Mute Swans, 1 Greylag Goose, 20 Canada Geese, 1 Canada x Greylag Goose, 61 Wigeon, 25 Gadwall, 14 Teal, 110 Mallard, 6 Shoveler, 3 Pochard, 226 Tufted Ducks, 39 Goldeneye, 8 Goosanders, 5 Cormorants, 2 Grey Herons, 24 Little Grebes, 45 Great Crested Grebes, 23 Moorhens, 643 Coot and 25 Lapwings. A 3cy Yellow-legged Gull was present during the day but not seen in the roost which contained at least 38 Common Gulls (GE).
20th A 3cy Iceland Gull, an adult Caspian Gull and 4 (2 adult, 4cy, 3cy) Yellow-legged Gulls roosted (CwS).
21st The roost held 2 (3cy, 2cy) Iceland Gulls, an adult Caspian Gull and 4 (3 adult, 5cy) Yellow-legged Gulls (CwS).
